A Discussion of the Sinicization of Buddhism and Buddhist System

The Chinese Buddhist system has always been sluggish and unsystematic in its development, resulting often in the Sinicization of the system. During the process of Sinicization many Buddhists in different ages made their own contributions. At the time when Buddhism still remained in the mainstream of Chinese culture, it was gradually undergoing the reforming and renovating process of Sinicization without deviating from its basic ideas and principles. But under the influence of marginalization and popularization after Yuan Dynasty, Chinese Buddhism started to diverge from some of its original principles, and stopped its development in doctrines and institutions.
