Abstract

Aim: To investigate the factors of affecting intraocular pressure(IOP) difference before and after LASIK,and IOP after LASIK. Methods: In this prospective cases series study, patient age, gender, preoperative visual acuity, preoperative central corneal thickness(CCT), preoperative IOP,myopia, astigmatism and ablation depth were studied to determine IOP and IOP difference in 271 consecutive cases who underwent LASIK.Results: The factors significantly correlated with postoperative IOP were gender, preoperative visual acuity, preoperative IOP,ablation depth and myopic diopter by univariate analysis, only the four former were its predictors by multivariate analysis, and preoperative IOP was the most important predictor. The predictors for IOP difference included gender, preoperative visual acuity, preoperative CCT,ablation depth and myopic diopter by univariate analysis, and only both of ablation depth, gender and preoperative CCT were its predictors by multivariate analysis, and the ablation depth was the most important predictor. Conclusions: Preoperative IOP,not preoperative CCT,was the most important predictors of IOP after LASIK.Gender and ablation depth were the common predictors of IOP difference before and after LASIK,and IOP after LASIK.
