Abstract
The onset-rime awareness, an index of syllable awareness inside, belongs to phonological awareness, reflecting metalinguistic and metacognitive ability. This research absorbs relative research accomplishment from psychology, cognition and neuroscience, adopts the phonological training based on the multisensory integration model in the way of mental processing, and explores the development of preschoolers' English onset-rime awareness. The pretest-posttest result shows that the experimental group with the phonological training is better than the control group in an overall and respective level: the level of rime replacement awareness rises dramatically; the rime recognition awareness contributes more to memory ability; the onset recognition accelerates the rime recognition awareness; the onset replacement awareness keeps steady with the rime replacement awareness.
