Abstract
Taking the slab caster mold of a specific steel-making plant as the prototype, water modeling experiments on the velocity of the surface flow in the slab caster mold under the different processing conditions are carried out with a 1∶1 scale water model. Results show that the velocity of the surface flow in the mold can be accelerated by increasing the casting speed, decreasing the submerged depth of SEN,reducing the down ward angles of the nozzle outlets and increasing Ar flow-rate.Of the above mentioned technical measures, the most effective one on the velocity of the surface flow is increasing the casting speed.
