Abstract

[Objective] The study aimed to relieve the toxic effect of heavy metal ions on the growth and development of pea seedling.[Method] The effects of Se with different concentrations on seed germination, plant growth, root tip cell division and activity of peroxidases of peas under Cd stress were studied.[Result] At the concentration of Cd ≤50.0 mg/L,Se ≤1.2 mg/L,Se can enhance the seeds germination and growth, root tip cell division, and reduce cell aberration rate under Cd stress;at the concentration of Cd ≤10.0 mg/L,Se ≤0.1 mg/L,chlorophyll contents were increased and oxidative stress of Cd was relieved;when the concentration of Cd was 100 mg/L,Se has the toxic effect coordinated with when the concentration of Cd was 1.2 mg/L,and the toxic effect was enhanced of peas.[Conclusion] Se with a low concentration can relieve the toxic effect of Cd of certain concentration, and cooperating with Cd,Se with a high concentration can produce stress and toxic effect on peas.
