Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical significance of the autoantibodies against the platelet glycoproteins in the diagnosis of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP). Methods Anti GPⅡb/Ⅲa and anti GPⅠb/Ⅸ antibodies were detected by platelet associated IgG characterization assay (PAICA). Results The specific antiplatelet antibodies were less sensitive but much more specific for the diagnosis of idiopathic thrombocytopenia, and were considerably better in discriminating immune from nonimmune thrombocytopenia than platelet associated IgG (PAIgG). Conclusion The detection of specific antiplatelet antibodies is of great significance in confirmation of the diagnosis of ITP,but less significance in exclusion of it.
