Abstract

From different point of view technological determinism can be divided into the optimistic one and the pessimistic one;technological determinism in its broad sense and narrow sense;extreme technological determinism and moderate technological determinism.The thought of Francis Bacon,Karl Marx,Saint-Simon,Auguste Comte,William Ogburn,Marshll Mcluhan,Danniel Bell,Alvin Toffler,John Naisbitt,etc,belongs to optimistic technological determinism while the thought of Lewis Mumford,Jacques Ellul,Martin Heidegger,The Frankfurt School,Jean Baudrillard,etc,belongs to pessimistic technological determinism.Other theories such as technocracy,omnipotence of technology,media determinism,technological supremacism,technological hegemonism,technological imperialism,theory of technological salvation,etc,belong to various expression of technological determinism.
