Abstract

Inorganic flocculant was prepared with vermiculite and sulfuric acid as the modifier, and the obtained flocculant was characterized using scanning electron microscope(SEM)and X-ray Diffraction(XRD). The results of preliminary treatment test of turbid river water showed that the flocculant exhibited excellent flocculation. Furthermore, the influence of flocculant dosage,p H,stirring speed and time,as well as settling time and temperature, were systematically investigated. It was found that the optimal flocculation can be obtained under the following conditions:temperature 30,℃,p H 8,flocculant dosage 300,mg/L,rapid mixing of 2,min with 120,r/min,slow mixing of 15,min with 40,r/min,and letting stand for 20,min. The turbidity of water after flocculation could drop from 189.3,NTU to 0.6,NTU with the removal rate of 99.67%.
