Clinical Value of Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Nephrostomy

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical value of ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrostomy ( PCN) in patients with post renal uremia. Methods Ultrasound-guided percutaneous placement of nephrostomy catheters were performed in 28 patients ( 30 kidneys) by using Seldinger technique. Results PCNs were successful in 30 kidneys ( 100% ,30 /30) at first attempt. The improvement of renal function was marked,and no severe complications occurred. Conclusion Ultrasound-guided PCN is a safe and effective procedure for patients with obstructive uropathy.
