Abstract
To evaluate clinical significance of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) changes and effect of chemotherapy in lung cancer patients. The serum levels of sICAM-1 in 68 cases of lung cancer and 20 normal controls were measured by ELISA, and compared before and after chemotherapy in 41 cases of lung cancer by analysis. The serum levels of sICAM-1 in lung cancer group were higher than those in control group, and were significantly correlated with clinic stages, lymph node metastasis, and malignant pleural effusion (P 0.01); not correlated with pathological grading (P 0.05). The levels of sICAM-1 reduced markedly after effective chemotherapy (P 0.01). [Conclusion] The serum sICAM-1 may be correlated with the occurrence and progress of lung cancer, and can be used as a mark of judging curative effect in lung cancer patients.
