Abstract

The ancient Greek tragedy which originated from the rites of Dionysus had not been far away from the cult of Dionysus in its later development: the heroes of the tragedies are the various forms of Dionysus;the plots of the tragedies imitate the experience of Dionysus;some descriptions in the tragedies borrowed the terms in the cult of Dionysus;the political significance of the tragedies came from and continued the political function of Dionysiac cult.Dionysiac elements had permeated the development of the ancient Greek tragedy which is always'a show for Dionysus'.
