Abstract

Through ultrasonic treatment, the suspension of SiO2 nano-powder in water is prepared by utilizing sodium hexametaphosphate(SHMP),sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate(SDBS) and KCl as the dispersants respectively. The effect of different dispersants on the suspension stability is investigated by means of testing the particle size of nano-SiO2,the Zeta potential and photic transmittance of the suspension. The results show that all the dispersants have a significant effect on the particle size of nano-SiO2,however,the width of particle size distribution varies under conditions of adding different dispersants. The suspension possesses a different stability when different dispersants are added, among which the suspension of SiO2 nano-powder with SDBS as dispersant possesses a good dispersing stability due to the existence of electrostatic and steric effects.
