Abstract

Excessive Na+ accumulaeted in soil is one of major factors inhibiting plant growth and resulting in salinization of soil.Na+/H+ antiporter plays an important role in plant salt tolerance by keeping Na+ homeostasis. The recent research progress on classification, structure and function of the Na+/H+ antiporter, including its relation to plant salt tolerance were reviewed in order to reveal the salt tolerance mechanism and empoldering in future.
