Abstract

Emperor Hui's empress Yang came from an upper class Wang Shi family in Taishan in the Western Jin Dynasty.She was conferred as the empress during the Rebellion of Eight Princes by Sun Xiu who was an influential minister then.During the rebellion in the late Western Jin Dynasty,empress Yang was just a puppet.However,she was frequently put into the political arena as a tool in the struggle between different political blocs.
