Serum level of the MMp-2 in ovarian malignant tumors

Abstract

Objective: To explore the diagnostic value of serum MMp-2 level in the patients with ovarian carcinomas, and to evaluate the value between serum MMp-2 and metastasis and prognosis of ovarian cancer. Method: Serum MMp-2 level in patients with ovarian neoplasm(48 cases of ovarian carcinomas,24 of benign tumors) and 16 healthy women as controls was determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results: The preoperative serum MMp-2 level was (452.21±59.45)in the malignant group,and there was a significant difference compared with normal controls (89.34±33.83)or patients with benign tumor(197.78±45.27)(P0.05). Conclusion: Higher serum mmp-2 level in malignant tumors is important in tumor invasion and metastasis. Expression of MMp-2 in ovarian carcinomas appears to be well-characterized indicators of tumor prognosis and metastasis.
