Abstract
[Objective] To improve the synthesis process of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy phenylacetonitrile.[Method] By using KF/Al2O3 as dehydrant, the 4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenylacetonitrile was synthesized from the raw material of vanillin via multiple steps.[Result] Optimal reaction conditions were 1.0∶1.2 of 3-methoxy-4-acetoxyphenylacetonitrile:hydroxylamine hydrochloride(molar ratio),100 ℃ of temperature,7.5 h of time, and 1.0∶1.5 of KF∶Al2O3(quality ratio). The structure of these compounds has been determined by IR spectra, elemental analysis and 1H NMR.[Conclusion] The reported method is simple and economical.
