Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy of small dose of intratympanic gentamicin injection on intractable Meniere’s disease. Methods 20 patients who were diagnosed of unilateral Meniere’s disease were given gentamicin 0.5mL intratympanically once a week, and for four weeks. Results Among 20 patients with Meniere's disease treated by intratympanic injection of gentamicin, control of vertigo was achieved in 17 patients(85.0%). Conclusion Intratympanic injection ofgentamicin is a simple, less side effect and cost-effectivemethod for controlling intractable vertigo symptom in patients with Meniere’s disease, but it also has some toxic effect for the hearing.
