Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of emergency branchial artery embolization(BAE) in hemoptysis. Methods Thirty-two cases with massive hemoptysis underwent emergent bronchial artery embolization with the following methods:branches of bronchial artery participated embolization with PVA micropheres, silk thread via Cobra catheter or RLG catheter or microcatheter, and the main trunk of bronchial artery abturation with particles of Gelfoam or/and coil again.Rusults In 32 cases with hemoptysis,31cases(96.88%) were stanched immediately. One cases(3.13%)failed with embolization.Hemoptysis recurred in 8 cases in 4 days~36 months and a second embolization was performed. Conclusion Bronchial artery embolization are effective in the treatment of massive hemoptysis and was first method of choice for massive hemoptysis.
