Abstract
A strain which can make use of phenol has been identified as Achromobacter by physiological, biochemical and 16S rDNA methods. The strain's growth and phenol degradation rates were studied at different temperatures,pH values, salinity and phenol concentrations. The results showed that the strain could completely degrade phenol with an initial concentration of 600 mg/L in 67h at 30 ℃,and it also could degrade phenol with an initial concentration of 1000 mg/L to some extent. The degradation rate was maximized at a temperature of 30 ℃,pH of 7 and salinity of 0.3%.
