Outcomes of digestive tract reconstruction by P shape jejunum pan jejunum esophagus Roux-en-Y anastomosis after total gastrectomy for gastric cancer

Objective To investigate the outcomes of digestive tract reconstruction by P shape jejunum pan jejunum esophagus Roux-en-Y anastomosis after total gastrectomy for gastric cancer.Methods The digestive tract reconstruction was performed in 61 patients with gastric cancer undergoing total gastrectomy for gastric cancer,of whom 32 cases(group A) with P shape jejunum pan jejunum esophagus Roux-en-Y anastomosis and 29 cases(group B) with Roux-en-Y jejunum esophagus anastomosis.The patients were followed up for 6 months and the outcomes were compared.ResultsThe surgery was successful and all patients were survival during follow-up in two groups.The surgical time and blood loss were slightly more in group A than those in group B(P0.05).Compared to before operation and group B,the increases of postoperative body weight,hemoglobin,albumin and total protein in group A were significantly higher(P0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications(dumping syndrome and reflux esophagitis) was less in group A than that in group B(28.1% vs.86.2%)(P0.05).Conclusion The P shape jejunum pan jejunum esophagus Roux-en-Y anastomosis is an ideal method for digestive tract reconstruction in the patients undergoing total gastrectomy for gastric cancer.
