Abstract

In this paper, comparative dry fermentation experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of cattle manure species on daily gas production, cumulative gas production and methane content. The results showed that the speed of start-up performance from fastest to slowest were cow manure, buffalo manure, cattle manure in sequence, while as to the cumulative gas production and average volume gas productivity from highest to lowest, they were buffalo manure, cattle manure, cow manure in sequence. The compositions of gas produced from dry fermentation of these three cattle manures were approximately similar. The methane content produced from fermentation of buffalo manure was higher than that from other two manures.Generally speaking, the effect of gas production from buffalo manure was better than that from cattle manure and cow manure. This paper provides reference for feedstocks selection in future related research or biogas engineering design.
