Abstract
Objective To evaluate the relationship and significance between corneal thickness(CCT) and intraocular pressure (IOP) during pre and postoperatively of excimer laser in situ keralomileusis(Lasik). Methods The CCT and IOP were measured before and after Lasik in all of the 245 eyes of 123 cases. The change of IOP readings and its relationship with CCT were compared and analyzed by t-test and correlation analysis. Results The CCT before and after Lasik was (530.93±29.40)μm and (454,77±32.52)μm respectively. The reduction of CCT was 76.16±29.04μm. There was statistic significance in the difference(t=41.052; P0.001).=.The IOP readings before and after Lasik was 13.76±2.62mmHg(1mmHg=0.133kpa) and 10.66±2.50mmHg after lasik. The reduction was 3.10±2.70 mmHg. There was statistic significant in IOP pre and postoperatively(t=18.005,P0.001).=. The CCT and IOP readings before and after Lasik were highly positive correlation (r=0.337,P0.01; r=0.267,P0.01). That is IOP readings were decreased as CCT became thinness after Lasik. Conclusion The IOP readings after Lasik decrease with CCT decline. The CCT changing is the major factor of IOP reduction. A part of patients who underwent Lasik possibly has glaucoma factors. In order to avoid failing diagnosis of glaucoma we must pay more attention to these persons with the “normal IOP” who have undergone Lasik.
