Abstract
We have brought forth new ideas in the construction of the Laboratory of Rock Magnetism and Paleomagnetism, which are buttressed up by sophisticated devices, fully open environments, and innovative methodology. In a nutshell, the trinity of experiment, observation and theory has been serving as our train of research thought. These features have had appealing for many famous scientists over the world to come to our laboratory to do scientific research and academic exchange. Some bi- or multi-lateral collaborative projects are being executed. In the recent years, there were sets of rock-magnetic and paleomagnetic data published in the top scientific journals, such as Nature, JGR, EPSL, and Earth-Science Reviews. The data obtained are having a profound effect on the studies of the behavior of Earth's magnetic field and on our insights into tectonic, paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental processes. The Laboratory of Rock Magnetism and Paleomagnetism are becoming one of the international hubs for the research into rock magnetism and paleomagnetism, which would have led to an effective promotion of the international standing of Chinese rock-magnetic and paleomagnetic research.
