Along with durative development of Shanghai and short of electric power, the distributed generation (DG) is used to eliminate the lack of urban distribution network supplying. The paper has concretely analyzed the effect on operation and planning of distribution network. As DG is popularized, it has a great impact on node voltage, power quality, system protection, supplying reliability and short circuit of distribution network. The degree of impact is closely relative with the location and capability of DG. It is also an essential challenge for traditional distribution network planning so that the planners must consider the influence it brings when selecting the best project.
