Global Warming and Carbon Dioxide Mitigation

The climate change has become a global environment problem. It is mainly due to the enhanced green-house effects produced by green-house gas emission into the atmosphere as a result of fossil fuels combustion. Mitigating and controlling the climate warming demands global coordination and planning on the basis of multilateral cooperation. The enforcement of the Kyoto Protocol is the beginning of Global Governance. Firstly, IPCC TAR and the state of the art scientific advances in CO_2 studies are referred to present the possible trend of climate change in the future, the impact on ecosystem and socio-economy. Furthermore, the carbon dioxide mitigation technologies are summarized. It is emphasized that Carbon Taxes play an important role in the carbon dioxide mitigation. Challenges and opportunities to China derived from climate change are analyzed, followed by the strategies to address climate change.
