Abstract
Adipokines are cytokines secreted by adipose tissue,such as tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-alpha,interleukin(IL)-6,leptin and adiponectin,etc.Some of these adipokines,including TNF-α,IL-6 and resistin take part in the initiation of insulin resistance and contribute to metabolic syndrome by stimulation of inflammation.In view of the involvement of dysregualtion of adipokine expression in the pathophysiology of insulin resistance implicated in obesity,diabetes and metabolic syndrome.This paper reviewed the relationship between adipokines and insulin resistance,trying to provide clues of the mechanism and treatment strategies to obesity,diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
