Study on the Protected Area of a Surface from the Perspective of Runway Incursion

In order to facilitate information exchange and comparison of the data as well as events research,analysis and prevention,it is urgent to define the concept of runway incursions.There is a term area of a surface in the definition of runway incursion which cannot be understood congruously by the insiders.A definite viewpoint in terms of design was proposed with a comprehensive consideration of strip,runway end safety area,siting protected areas of instrument landing system,obstacle free zone and obstacle assessment surface.The conclusion supports and enriches the definition from ICAO on runway incursions.
