Clinical Observation on Auergic Rhinitis by Acupuncture

Abstract

Objective:To observe the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of Allergic Rhinitis.Methods:52 patients were divided into 2 groups;the study group(33 patients) were treated with acupuncture and ear acupressure and the control group(19 patients) had Flixonase nasal spray.On completion of the treatment course,their outcomes were evaluated and compared using both the Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire and Allergic Rhinitis Symptom Score.Results:In both groups,the effectiveness are comparable and the long term efficacy was 85% in the acupuncture group.Conclusion:Acupuncture treatment of Allergic Rhinitis is as effective as using steroid nasal spray and has longer lasting effect than nasal spray.
