Clinical analysis of surgical treatment of acute epidural hematoma

Objective To summarize the surgical treatment of acute epidural hematoma experience and results.Methods From the retrospective analysis of our hospital from January 2007 to June 2011,there are 71 patient's cases of traumatic acute epidural hematoma from clinical data,which were diagnosed mainly based on clinical manifestations and imaging tests.Depending on the condition,patients were treated by different surgical approach.Result Patients with good recovery were 62 cases(87.3%);mild disability in 4 cases(5.6%);severe disability in 2 cases(2.8%);3 patients died(4.2%).Conclusions In order to reduce the patient's death and disability percentage,early diagnosis should be applied to acute epidural hematoma,with dynamic monitoring,individual therapy and timely surgical intervention hematoma.
