Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of phentolamine and phenylephrine on the isolated tracheal smooth muscle in rabbits.Methods The effects of phentolamine and phenylephrine on the tension of isolated rabbits tracheal smooth muscles in quiescent condition and in electrical stimulation were measured.Results Phentolamine 0.66mmol/L and phenylephrine 1.23mmol/L did not affect the tension of isolated tracheal smooth muscle in quiescent condition.Phentolamine 0.66mmol/L markedly decreased the tension of isolated tracheal smooth muscle induced by electrical field(P0.01),but phenylephrine 1.23mmol/L increased the tensions slightly(P0.05).Conclusion Phentolamine can inhibit the tension of isolated tracheal smooth muscles induced by electrical field in rabbits,but phenylephrine has no effect on that.
