Abstract

Wireless sensor network is a hotspot in research and the localization of sensor nodes is a key technology in wireless sensor networks.Combining localization function into sensor nodes,a new wireless sensor node with localization function for wireless sensor networks is designed and implemented.The localization engine was placed in the wireless sensor node.The signal strength the sensor node received was converted into its corresponding distance information.When three or more nodes' coordinates were obtained,the sensor nodes used the maximum likelihood estimation method to localize their positions.The experiment result shows that the localization precision of the wireless sensor node is three meters and can meet the normal application demand in wireless sensor networks.
