Study on the present situation and countermeasures of sustainable exploitation and utilization of water resources in China's Northwest drought area

The arid area of Northwest China is one of areas that will be exploited in the massive development of West China. The reasonable exploitation and utilization of water resources is basic assurance of rebounding economy and the key factor urging ecological-economic system to good development. Based on the analysis of the basic characteristics of water resources in the arid of Northwest China and the present situation for the exploitation and utilization of water resources, the main problems of exploitation and utilization of water resources in this region are discussed. A conclusion is that making good use of water resources is the core of ecological environment construction and social economy development in the arid area of Northwest China. Also, the feasible countermeasures of water resources sustainable exploitation and utilization are put forward.
