Abstract

Objective To identify and analyse the phenotypic and DNA genotypic characterization of a kind of new epidemical Shigella flexneri type 4 strains. Methods In addition to the biochemical, serotyping and antimicrobial susceptibility test for identification of typical strains, the new strains were tested also by the RiboprinterDNA fingerprint system(RP). Results The phenotypic of strains matched with Shigella flexneri, and the serological typing confirmed to Shigella flexneri 4c(F4c,Ⅳ:7,8);The restriction enzyme EcoRⅠ digestion result was the same as the patterns of Shigella in RP database, the PvuⅡ digestion result showed that only one Shigella flexneri subserotype 2b local strain had same fingerprint patterns with F4c isolates. Conclusions Shigella flexneri subserotype 4c could be the lysogenicity variation of Shigella flexneri subserotype 2b.RP fingerprint types can make molecular identification and molecular typing for Shigella flexneri by two restriction enzyme digestion.
