Abstract

Drought is one of the natural disasters, which severely influences the agricultural production of China. This paper tried to find the way in which the disaster bearing body's vulnerability to agricultural drought under small spatial scale could be evaluated.First,it analyzed the causes of constructing different index-systems under different spatial scales, and built an index-system under the small spatial scale including indexes such as land flatness, pond capacity for irrigating and so on,based on the investigating materials of Shuangqiaoping Town. Then, the weight of each index was given by comparing the index's relative importance, and the disaster bearing body's vulnerability to agricultural drought of 16 villages in Shuangqiaoping Town in 2001 was worked out.The result shows that this town has a high vulnerability to agricultural drought. The villages lying in the west of the town have smaller vulnerability than the villages lying in the east. This result tallies the local actual loss to agricultural droughts. The idea of constructing index-systems under small spatial scales has been proved necessary and feasible.
