Abstract

Objective To understand the correlation of serum, intrahepatic HBV DNA quantity and liver tissue HBV DNA loads and injury severity in liver tissue of chronic hepatitis B.Methods Liver specimens were taken from 38 chronic hepatitis B(CHB) patients and divided into two parts, one was evaluated for hepatic inflammation and fibrosis degrees by histological examination, the other for intrahepatic HBV DNA quantity and liver tissue HBV DNA loads were detected by PCR-fluorescence.Serum HBV DNA quantity was assessed simultaneously.Patients were classified into two groups: HBeAg positive and HBeAg negative. Results Serum, intrahepatic HBV DNA quantity and liver tissue HBV DNA loads in HBeAg positive CHB patients were all higher than those in HBeAg negative CHB patients(P 0.001 without exception).Serum HBV DNA quantity increased with aggravation of hepatic fibrosis(P 0.001),while liver tissue HBV DNA loads decreased with aggravation of hepatic inflammation and fibrosis(P 0.001).Conclusion Serum HBV DNA quantity is positively correlated to the degree of hepatic fibrosis;liver tissue HBV DNA loads is negatively correlated to hepatic inflammation and fibrosis degree.
