Abstract
By means of full-scale experiment, potassium permanganate pretreatment process for removal of organic polltants, NH_3-N, Fe~(2+), and Mn~(2+) from surface water was investigated, and it was compared with prechlorination process. The result shows that potassium permanganate process is superior to prechlorination in reducing Fe~(2+), and Mn~(2+) contamination, removing NH_3-H, and decreasing organic content.
