Abstract
Poyang Lake lies in the north of Jiangxi province and in the south bank of the crossing of Yangtze River's midstream and downstream, it is the biggest fresh lake in our country. But with the exploiting and utilizing of nature, the pollution is being aggravated day by day. Based on the current pollution situation of Poyang Lake, using WCG-203 model differential instrument for mercury measurement to determine the content of mercury in Poyang Lake and using the Index of Geoaccumulation to analyze and evaluate the pollution of mercury. The results indicated that the Index of Geoaccumulation in most sampling sites were 0, belonging to the non polluted areas, only four of them reached 1, belonging to the light polluted areas. The highest content of mercury was determined as 0.139 mg·kg-1 in the sediments of Rao River. The pollution degree in sediments and soils of each sampling site were arranged in the following order: Rao RiverNanji shanDongku shanYumin villageLongkou; Dongku shanYumin villageLongkouNanji shanRao River. The content of mercury is higher than before and has the trend to increase, so we should pay more attention to the potential light pollution and strengthen the prevention and management of pollution.
