Abstract

Objective To compare the diagnostic value of dobutamine stress transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and dobutamine stress magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on detection of myocardial viability in chronic myocardial infarction. Methods Rest and low dose dobutamine (5 μg·kg-1·min-1, 10 μg·kg-1·min-1)stress TTE and cine-MRI were performed in 30 patients with old myocardial infarction .Recorded BP,HR at rest and after low dose dobutamine (5 μg·kg-1·min-1, 10 μg·kg-1·min-1)stress TTE and the time through examination were recorded. Results BP and HR were increased significantly after dobutamine (10 μg·kg-1·min-1)stress TTE and MRI. Totally 108 segments showed wall motion abnormalities in 30 patients, Kappa value of the two techniques was 0.75, and the concordance in both techniques was 88%. Conclusions Myocardial viability in the old myocardial infarction could be detected by low dose dobutamine stress TTE and MRI. The security of low-dose dobutamine TTE is higher than that of MRI.
