Abstract

A Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Model was built to evaluate ecosystem health of the wetland in the New Coastal Area of Tianjin. Firstly, 26 assessment indicators were selected from three aspects of ecological characteristics, overall functions and socioeconomic conditions of the wetland, an indicators system for evaluation of wetland ecosystem health of the new coastal area in Tianjin was established. Secondly, ecosystem health was divided into 5 grades: very healthy, healthy, normal, normal with ill, and ill. The result of the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation indicated that the wetland ecosystem under study was ill, with a comprehensive score of 0.48. The main causes for the illness were water pollution, shortage of available water, landscape fragmentation and function degradation.
