Abstract

From observing and analyzing the Chongming tidal flat from 2002 to 2003,together with the information from remote sensing and film pictures, we can come to the following conclusion:deposition is more than erosion in the summer and the thing is opposite in the winter. It is more evident in the north than in the middle and the south of the Chongming tidal flat.Under the action of tidal current, the number of tidal creeks reduces gradually from the south to north. The middle develops relatively fast and the Chongming Island extends mainly in this direction. Human activity is so strong that it begins to play an important pole in changing the nature and the distribution of the tidal beach.
