Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the optimal harvesting time of Pueraria lobata (Willd) Ohwi.by determining the contents of puerarin and isoflavone in the root of plants in different growth duration and by the weight of the root.METHODS The contents of puerarin and isoflavone were determined by HPLC-UV assay.The detection wavelength was at 250 nm.RESULTS 5-Year old Pueraria lobata(Willd)Ohwi was gathered in June.The maximum contents of puerarin and isoflavone were obtained,at 7.91% and 8.73% ,respectively.In november,the contents were 5.90% and 7.53%.However,the weight of root was highest in november,the maxiumu total yields of puerarin and isoflavone were obtained in november,and the yields were 29.81 g and 38.05 g.CONCLUSION The root of 5-year old Pueraria lobata(Willd) Ohwi gathered in November was suitable to harvest for medicine.
