Abstract
Objective To evaluated the effects of irbesartan(I) on atrial remodeling of rabbits with heart failure(HF).Methods A total of 90 rabbits were randomly divided into sham-operated(S) group,HF group and I group.After 12 weeks,the sign of HF,left atriam diameter(LAD) and atrial cell membrane capacitances were evaluated.Results The heart wight/body weight(HW/BW),liver weight/BW,lung wet weight/BW,left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left ventricular end-systolic diameter(LVESD) in the HF group and I group were significantly higher than that in the S group after 12 weeks.The lung wet weight/BW,LVEDD,LVESD in the I group were lower than in the HF group.The LAD and atrial cell membrane capacitance in HF group and I group increased compared with S group and the EF decreased.The LAD and atrial cell membrane capacitance in the I group decreased compared with HF group(P0.05),however the EF increased(P0.05).Conclusion Irbesarten can prevented atrial remodeling of heart failure rabbits.
