Abstract

In order to investigate the distribution of Pomacea canaliculata and the natural infectious status of Angiostrongylus cantonensis in Fujian Province,so as to provide basis for angiostrongyliasis cantonensis prevention and control, the area of Fujian was divided into five regions.A certain number of counties were investigated in each region, and more than one hundred of Pomacea canaliculata were caught by tuck net in each county. The mollusks were selected one by one,and then the Angiostrongylus cantonensis were observed by microscope using homogenisation or compression. The status of natural infection for Pomacea canaliculata in 29 counties were investigated, and the average infection rate was 23.76%(915/3 851);in which, the infection rates of eight counties were more than 30%,the highest infection rate was 42%(52/124) in Minhou of Fuzhou, and the lowest infection rate was 3.77%(2/53) in Zhangping of western Fujian. In all kind of breeding environment of Pomacea canaliculata, the highest infection rate was 30.81%(537/1 743) in ditch, and the lowest infection rate was 11.21%(63/562) in pond. The highest infection rate was 28.03%(551/1 966) in central Fujian, and the lowest infection rate was 5.06%(12/237) in western Fujian. The natural infection rate of Pomacea canaliculata was closely related to the different distances between breeding grounds and residential areas——the shorter the distance was,the higher the infection rate grew(χ2=94.24,P0.001).The natural infection rate of Pomacea canaliculata soled in the market and the restaurant were 4.11%(23/559) and 11.51%(68/591) respectively. The natural infection rate was increased with the weight of Pomacea canaliculata(χ2=238.32,P0.001).Results demonstrated that Pomacea canaliculata was detected in all counties of Fujian, which indicated that Fujian is one of the provinces which have a wide distribution of Pomacea canaliculata and the highest infection rate of Angiostrongylus cantonensis in China.
