Abstract

A new method to suppress the switching overvoltage and inrush current is proposed, which combined high-voltage SCR with vacuum circuit-breaker to switch capacitor bank. Experiments show that the method is more effective than that of only using vacuum circuit-breaker to suppress operating overvoltage and inrush current in switching capacitor bank.
