Abstract
Missionary schools in frontier ethnic area in the later Qing and Republican period were mainly established to enhance the influence of Western Church.However,by defusing modern Western culture,it also functioned to promote the rising of modern ethnic education in the frontier areas.It also helped to reveal the cultural diversities in the frontier ethnic areas in such forms as languages,religion etc.
