Abstract

In order to solve the drawbacks of arch dam design and stability analysis of dam abutment with the traditional rigid limit equilibrium method,three-dimensional nonlinear FEM is used to analyze anti-slide stability of arch dam abutment rock based on the theory of elastic-plastic of material.Examples evaluate the anti-slide stability safety factor of arch dam abutment rock in both case of sudden load change and material strength gradually decreased, respectively. The results show that the proposed method is effective and can fully reflect the interaction between arch dam and the bedrock. Thus,it provides reference for design, optimization and construction of arch dam.
