Abstract
The color reaction of 4 (2 hydroxy 4 nitrophenylazo) 1 phenyl 3 methylpyazolone (HNAPMP) with thorium (Ⅳ) was studied. In the HAc medium (pH 2~3), HNAPMP reacts with thorium (Ⅳ) to form a 2∶1 complex. The molar absorptivity is 4.96×10 4 L·mol -1 ·cm -1 at 540 nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0~2.8 mg/L for Th. The recovery of standard addition for Th is 97%~102% with precision of 1% RSD ( n =5). The method has been applied to the determination of Th in Th W alloy.
