Abstract
Air switch arc is the most complex phenomenon in low voltage electric apparatus using air as quenching and insulation medium.With regarding to arc motion process,especially,arc back commutation phenomenon,arc temperature,arc composition and the corresponding concentration,the characteristics and application of modern measurement technologies including CCD,optical fiber array,spectrum diagnostics and magnetic diagnostics were reviewed.Finally,some important problems in the experimental studies of arc switching arc were pointed.
