Abstract
The braking course of a city bus with regenerative braking system is different from that of traditional bus. By analyzing regenerative braking moment and wheel hydraulic braking model, regenerative braking moment is converted to hydraulic-brake pedal travel and the sense of regenerative braking is un-(ited ) with traditional braking sense. The braking distances in pure regenerative braking mode, emergency braking mode and general braking mode are studied and computed. Based on the discussion, the regene-rative braking control strategy of a city bus is proposed. Computing results showed that braking safety depends on emergency braking distance and the amount of regenerative braking energy depends on the braking distance of pure regenerative braking mode and general braking mode. In the design of vehicle with regenerative braking system, the deduced formula of emergency braking distance can be used to (compute) and check braking safety distance.
