Analysis on Problems and Countermeasures of Water Resources in Gansu Province

It is 28.944 billion m3 that total average annual water resources self-produced in Gansu.In 2005,the real water supply was 12.272 billion m3,water development degree is 42.4% and water consumption was 8.05 billion m3,accounting for 75.5% of total available water resources.The water resources development degree of inland water basin is the highest,which reached 98.6%,especially for water consumption of Shiyang river basin exceeded available the building of water resources,which had resulted in severe ecological problems.The serious problems existed in water resources development and utilization are water resources shortage,low efficiency of utilization,severe soil erosion and imperfect water resources management system,those need to be solved by series measures of reasonable development,optimized distribution of water resources,accelerating integrated management of major water basin,overall promoting the building of water saving society,ensuring drinking water security of urban and rural inhabitants,seriously strengthening watersoil conservation and water resources protection to reasonably develop and optimize water resources distribution for achieving the utmost efficiency with limited water resources.
